Brushfire Concepts ("we", "us", or "our") built the Ride Beacon app. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app.
Ride Beacon collects your device's precise GPS location while you are actively participating in a ride. Location data is used to:
Location tracking runs in the foreground while the app is in use and continues in the background via an Android foreground service with a visible notification. We do not collect location data when you are not participating in a ride.
You may optionally provide a display name when creating or joining a ride. This name is shown to other participants in the same ride. It is stored locally on your device and in the ride's participant list in our database.
The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to assign each device a unique anonymous ID. No email address, phone number, or personal account is required. This ID is used solely to associate your location updates with your marker on the ride map.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose outside of operating the ride-sharing features of the app.
Your location and display name are shared only with other participants who have joined the same ride using the same ride code. We do not sell, trade, or transfer your information to third parties.
We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
Ride data (route, participant positions, messages) is stored in Firebase Firestore and associated with the ride ID. When a ride is ended, the data remains in the database but is no longer actively updated. We do not have an automated deletion schedule; you may contact us to request deletion of any data associated with your anonymous user ID.
Ride Beacon is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard practices provided by Firebase to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
